This is not a drill, we repeat, not a drill.
Did you know that profile videos have arrived? (Let's be real, we all knew this was coming eventually). Now when you go out with friends you might be thinking, "I have to ask my friends to take a new profile video of me?". Well once upon a time, Facebook didn't have a cover photo either. Hard to picture, right?Facebook announced a few enhancements to your Facebook profiles in the Fall of 2015 which have since roll out to its user base.
So, what exactly do we know?
1. You can only edit and upload your video on the mobile app - but it plays the same on both mobile and desktop. Uploading is easy - the same way you would upload a picture, but click "Upload Video" or "Take New Profile Video"
2. Video profile is not yet available for Pages (because you know HeyOrca would be all over that)
It's only a matter of time before it catches on. Video profiles can last up to 7 seconds in duration - so choose those 7 seconds wisely! You could create a looping video, like a GIF, to make your profile come to life!Reminds us a lot of the Daily Prophet Paper in the Harry Potter film where the subjects come to live.
Though video profiles may not be mainstream yet, they're on the way! A recent survey predicted that by 2017, a whopping 74% of internet traffic will be video! With Apple's recent release of live photos, we have no doubt that this will catch on quickly. (Keeping in mind that Video Profiles are being rolled out continuously, so if you don't see the option on your profile yet, you will soon!)
If we consider how popular GIFs have become, imagine how successful video profiles can be!
