We have some big news here at HeyOrca.

*Drum roll*

You can now schedule your Instagram Reels with HeyOrca! We are so excited to share this update with you. As most of you know, Instagram Reels has taken off majorly and is expected to be a big trend going into 2022.

Instagram does not allow direct publishing to Reels just yet, but with our new feature, you can still plan, collaborate and schedule your Reels content!

Are you interested in seeing this exciting new feature in action? Book a live call with our education team to learn how to schedule your Instagram Reels!

How does it work?

So, did you really think we would leave you without showing you how this incredible feature works?! Here’s how you can get started with your Instagram Reels in HeyOrca today.

Step 1: Create an Instagram Post on the calendar.

Step 2: In the post type section, click the drop-down menu and change the “post” to “Reels”. This will format your post so that it is cropped to the dimensions you need for posting. Your Reels posts will be labelled on the calendar to differentiate from other Instagram posts.

Step 3: It’s time to edit your Reel! You will be able to add multiple pieces of media, and then you’ll be able to combine them when posting to the Instagram App. You’ll be able to get your approvals from your team as well as make comments or leave feedback!

Step 4:
When you schedule your Reel, HeyOrca will send a notification to your HeyOrca Mobile App or Email 5 minutes before the scheduled posting time. In order to publish the Reel, now you’ll need to download the media contents from the HeyOrca mobile app/email, and then post to Instagram.

See – easy peasy!

What are Instagram Reels?

Instagram Reels allow you to publish 60-second multi-clip videos to Instagram. If you’re thinking that sounds pretty familiar, that’s because it is. It’s a lot like TikTok, the number one most downloaded app in the Apple Store. As you can see in the chart below, video has taken over the charts!

If you’re not familiar with TikTok, don’t worry! Head over and check out our Beginner’s Guide to Creating a Marketing Strategy for TikTok, or just skip ahead to the topic at hand and watch this demo video of Instagram Reels in action posted by Stephanie Kase.

Why you should incorporate Reels in your marketing strategy

Did you know 71% of Americans between the ages of 18-29 are on Instagram? It’s a playground you definitely want to play in, no matter what industry you’re in. A recent study conducted by Deposit Video highlighted users’ opinions on video content on social media.

  • 69% of the respondents prefer short videos
  • 85% said they would like to see more video content from businesses
  • 18 hours a week is the average time people are spending watching videos
  • 87% of marketers say that video provides positive ROI

The proof is in the pudding! Video content is taking over the scene. But, don’t worry! We’re here to help you along the way (we even have a step-by-step guide walking you through how to create a Reel).

The hardest part of creating Reels content is figuring out what to film. We have created a list of 10 simple ideas that will only take you a few minutes to film, check it out!

Not quite convinced? Take a look at this recent study conducted by Creatopy. In this study, they ran the exact same 15-second ad on both TikTok and Instagram Reels and analyzed the results. Here are some key takeaways:

  • The Reels ad received a reach of 389,298 and the TikTok ad received a reach of 199,477.
  • The Instagram Reels ad received 604,350 impressions and the TikTok ad received 228,537.
  • The Instagram Reels ad received 36 clicks and the TikTok ad received 28

As you can see here, with the exact same ad, Instagram Reels had almost double the reach and almost triple the impressions. To view the full study, click here.
